This month, August marks our 1 year anniversary of this site! 🥳
We are 24 posts in, 1101 sentences written, 11,498 words finally here! But how did Faith with Petra start. It started because I wanted to demonstrate my walk and relationship with God and what I had learnt.
Essentially, I wanted a visible token of my relationship with God. And this is what my post is about today. Relationship! Specifically our relationship with God and how that is the very foundation of having faith with God.
What’s the basis of a strong relationship, wouldn’t it be: great communication and friendship. Likewise, is God you’re friend? Is God the person you want to tell all your secrets to? Is God the person you tell how you’re feeling? Is He the one that you talk to on a regular basis – pray to? Is He the one you come to when you need advice?
To have a strong faith walk I believe this is the outlook we should have. More important than all the technicalities that come with having faith with God: how I need to pray and repent of things and all the acts that we should do, Rather the incubus of a strong faith walk is its on the condition of our relationship with God.
The first time God describes what is good or bad for man is in Genesis 2:18.
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.
Genesis 2:18
When you negate something, its a great way of clarifying what state it should not be, so that its fit for purpose. Its an emphasis on what it really needs and how its suppose to be. In the same way the very first thing God said that was not good for man is to be alone. Lonely and not in relationship with someone.
God also calls us his children and that he is our Father so that he can express his love to us.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 John 3:1
We often focus on what we have to do to have a stronger faith and i believe God wants our focus to be on our relationship with him and then all the rest will follow.
But relationship is key here. Let us learn to experience the love of God first and foremost.
